| All injuries have an
impact on daily life. The rehabilitation process is
often long, hard work and frustrating. Patients are
often limited in their favourite activities and this
frustration can lead to periods of inactivity. This
can result in a prolonged rehabilitation period.
Working as part of your rehabilitation team, Sarah
will communicate with your therapist(s) to ensure
your efforts (and those of your rehabilitation team)
are maximised. This communication, coupled with knowledge
of the injury, enables the strengthening of the supporting
muscle structures and the maintenance/improvement
of your fitness levels, without compromising the progress
of the injured area.
Maintaining such strength and fitness can help to
reduce the length of the rehabilitation period and
can even facilitate progression of the injured area.
Further to this, minor changes to the performance
of your daily tasks can often bring relief from pain,
enable rest for the injured musculature and therefore
allow for a speedier recovery.
Sarah has worked as part of many multi-disciplinary
teams and has played a role in the rehabilitation
of patients with many different injuries/permanent
conditions. Her experiences range from long-term injuries
such as a 20 year old back injury and a 30 year old
chondral injury, to ACL reconstruction, Achilles tendonitis,
Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome, AC joint separation,
Hamstring tears, Arthritis and Cerebral Palsy to name
a few. Sometimes her involvement has begun prior to
operations and has continued throughout the rehabilitation
process.
Communicating with all parties necessary will enable
Sarah to ensure the most effective programme for your
recovery throughout this period. Sessions will take
place at your home or place of work, and all equipment
will be brought to you.
